Modern Quilting Challenges

2026 ReMade Modern — Second Chances Through Design

Upcycled Content Requirement

• At least 50% of your project must be made from upcycled or recycled materials.

• Fabric from your stash does not count as upcycled. It must have previously been used as something else: Clothing; table runners or linens; curtains; tote bags; upholstery; old quilts; or any previously-constructed textile item. If it had a “first life,” it qualifies

Project Type:

Any modern quilted or textile project is welcome: quilts, quilted bags, wall hangings,  upcycled garments,  art quilts, mixed-media textile pieces. If it’s quilted or textile-based and modern, it counts.

Completion Requirement

Quilts must be quilted and bound.

All other project types must be fully finished (straps attached, closures added, hems done, etc.).

Theme Interpretation

Your project should reflect the spirit of: ReMade Modern: Second Chances Through Design

Think:

• bold modern composition

• graphic shapes

• improv slicing and reassembly

• unexpected textures

You may interpret the theme literally, abstractly, or conceptually.

• visible mending

• contrast between “old life” and “new life”

• sustainability as a design choice

 Timeline

Start Date: April 18

Completion & Turn-In Deadline: October 10
